Located between Regensburg and Neumarkt, Parsberg lies in the valley of the Schwarze Laber, a 77-kilometre-long tributary of the Danube. The varied landscape makes hiking in the Upper Palatinate an unforgettable experience. To get you started, here are three hiking routes:

Rocky paths, dark legends, and a charming castle
Ideal for romantics and history enthusiasts, this 10.8-kilometre route takes you along rugged trails straight out of a fairy tale while you uncover fascinating stories from the past. A highlight along the way is Parsberg Castle. This leisurely hike takes around three hours.

The Parsberger Gschichtenweg – a trail full of stories!
For those looking for a longer, more active adventure, the “Parsberger Gschichtenweg” is a true insider tip. This 15.5-kilometre trail along the Labertal valley offers a unique mix of storytelling, nature, and tranquillity. The hike takes about four and a half hours and starts from the hikers’ car park near the sewage treatment plant.

The Malerweg near Parsberg
If you are passionate about beautiful scenery, the “Malerweg” (painters’ trail) is the perfect choice. This route comes in four variations, ranging from 9 to 18 kilometres, allowing you to tailor your hike to your fitness level and desired duration. Along the way, you’ll be treated to picturesque landscapes along the Schwarze Laber, providing both inspiration and exhilaration.
