A castle, a hunting ground, and endless magic on the ice
15/01/2025
On the hunt for a winter adventure? Grab your skates and experience the unique charm of Parsberg Castle’s ice-skating rink!
Ice skating at Parsberg Castle promises to be a regal experience filled with fun and wonder! Perched majestically on a rocky plateau overlooking Schwarze Laber valley, this fully preserved castle offers a storybook setting for your unforgettable ice-skating adventure.
The modern, eco-friendly ice rink covering an impressive 234 square metres (13x18m) offers a uniquely sustainable skating experience without using water or energy for cooling. How? It’s made from special synthetic ice sheets – the same technology used in top-level sports. The best part? The ice rink is entirely weather-independent, allowing you to skate daily until 9:00 p.m., rain or shine, from mid-December through the end of March. And it’s completely free of charge! Skating aids are available for the little ones to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for the kids and a little peace of mind for the parents.
Please note: As there’s no rental service available on-site, you will have to bring your own ice skates. With a sharpened pair of blades, you’ll enjoy excellent grip and a smooth glide on the synthetic surface. Need a break from the ice? Parsberg Castle itself offers plenty to explore. The courtyard, the onion domes, and the castle museum provide fascinating insights into the history of the region. For hikers, the castle trail offers a wonderful opportunity to explore the surrounding area – from Parsberg Castle to the neighbouring Lupburg castle complex. An evening highlight: The illuminated ice rink immerses the castle in a magical atmosphere that will make you want to pull out your camera as well as your skates.
Tip: Pair your skating session with a visit to the castle museum or simply soak in the breathtaking views.
